Most email clients allow you to store information for each person in your address book – most allow you to store more than just an email address. Alternatively, most instant messenger services allow for you to store contact information for your listed contacts. Both automatically store contact information by the name in alphabetical order, which makes finding any contact information you require quickly and easily. The downsides of storing your business contact information on your email client, is that you can usually only access this information when you are at your personal computer. Using email clients and instant messenger services is a great tool for storing information for contacts that you already have. Using these tools to expand you business contacts is more difficult. Another common you can store and organise your business contacts is in a portable, hand-held device like a palm pilot or personal digital assistant (PDA). These typically allow you to store the same sort of information as your email client would, but these devices are portable, allowing you to access information for your business contacts when you are outside your home or office. Similarly to storing your contacts on an email client, storing your contacts on a portable device is useful for contacts you already have, but can be difficult to use to expand your existing business network. Recently people are starting to store more and more of their contact information on business social networks. This is possibly the easiest and most practical way to store business contacts and their information because all you need to do is search for your contacts, and their information is most likely already in the network. You might also be able to access extra information such as a website or blog, as well as biography information, which can be useful in remembering how you made contact with a person.
